ANDREW JAMES ESTRADA, 55, a lifelong resident of Lordsburg passed away Thursday July 18, 2019 at Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque.
Visitation will be Thursday July 25, 2019 at 9 o’clock in the morning at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will begin at 10:15 with Alice Ramirez leading the rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 o’clock with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating. Veterans honors will follow mass and cremation will take place at Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
Andrew, or Andy as many knew him was born March 5, 1964 in Lordsburg to Margo J. and Mary Helen (Martinez) Estrada. He graduated from Lordsburg High School in 1982 where he was active in Maverick athletics, especially football and basketball. He had already enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country honorably. He then worked for Phelps Dodge Mining Corporation in Tyrone and Playas. Andy enjoyed being outdoors and trying his chances on scratch lotto tickets.
He is survived by his parents, Margo and Mary Helen of Lordsburg; daughters, Angela Ortiz of Reno, Nevada and Mona Estrada of Silver City; brothers, Louie Rodriguez of Safford, Arizona and Christopher Estrada of Lordsburg; 3 grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Margo Estrada III in 2018.
Pallbearers will be Kristine Estrada, Mona Estrada, Terral Estrada, Miguel Estrada, Alejandro Estrada, and Joe Gomez.
