Angelita Ortiz, 80 of Silver City passed away May 4, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be at five o’clock in the evening on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at six o’clock. The Funeral Mass will be at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, May 10, 2019 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church with Father Oliver Obele, officiating. Concluding Services and Burial will follow at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Gonzales, Richard Reyes, Jose Fierro, John Ortiz III, Dion Ortiz, Jerry Paul Pena, Anthony Fierro, and Matthew Gonzales.
Angelita was born August 1, 1938 in North Hurley to Frank and Leandra Chavira. Together, Johnny and Angelita raised eight children. She worked for a time at the Drifter Motel. Angelita enjoyed spending time crocheting and coloring. She always looked forward being with all her family and friends at the family outings and picnics but especially her special yearly vacations. Angelita will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Angelita is survived by Daughters, Sylvia (Claro) Gonzales; Irene (Richard) Reyes; Lupe (Mando) Fierro; Estella (Jerry) Pena; and Theresa Ortiz. Sons, Louis (Sandy) Ortiz; Johnny Boy Ortiz; and Raymond Ortiz. 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two sisters, Elisa Flores and Andrea Morales; a special friend Julia Artiaga. Also surviving her is her pet dog, Chiquita. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Johnny B. Ortiz in 1995; brothers, Louie Chavira and Tommy Chavira as well as her parents, Frank and Leandra Chavira.
