Antonio H. Meza

ANTONIO HERNANDEZ MEZA, 89, of Lordsburg passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Antonio was born January 26, 1929 in Lordsburg to Antonio Meza and Hilaria Hernandez Meza.

Antonio was a hardworking and self-taught.  He left school at a young age to work and support his mother and siblings.  Still, he was an avid reader who taught himself everything from algebra to electrical maintenance.

Antonio was also an honest man, diligent in his work ethic, humble about his personal achievements and always grateful to be able to provide for his family.

He is survived by his children, Antonio Meza Jr., Daniel Meza and his wife Susan, Lillian Blaylock, Evelyn Meza and her partner Robert Rangel, and Linda DeLaGarza; sister, Lenore Stewart; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pilar Garcia Meza, brothers, Nestor and Esequiel Meza and 3 sisters, Pauline Meza Mesa, Carolina Torres, and Cecilia Hernandez Meza.

Antonio’s Celebration of Life will commence at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Thursday morning, January 24, 2019. Visitation will begin at 9 o’clock, with a prayer vigil at 10 o’clock. Mass will be at 11 o'clock with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Daniel J. Meza, Anthony Meza, Julian Gomez, Marc Gomez, Antonio Meza III, Michael Meza, Dominic Duncan, and Paul Anthony Blaylock.  Honorary bearers are Felicia Estrada, Lezlie Loera, Jenny Hard and Julie Meza.
