Arnulfo Artiaga Obituary

ARNULFO “NUCO” ARTIAGA, 59, a lifelong Lordsburg resident passed away Sunday April 14, 2019 at his home with his family at his side.

Visitation will be Wednesday April 17, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will begin at 10:30 with Alice Ramirez leading the rosary.  Mass of Christian Burial will be follow at 11 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Nuco was born July 23, 1959 in Deming to Juan Benito and Ramona Artiaga.  He was a 1978 graduate of Lordsburg High School and is well remembered by his athletic accomplishments.  Nuco played basketball and baseball and excelled in both sports.  He married Rebecca Talavera November 29, 1980 and later he went to work with Phelps Dodge in Tyrone from which he had retired.  Nuco enjoyed life and being around his family and friends.  He leaves all of us many treasured memories.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca T. Artiaga of Lordsburg; his daughter Lorena Artiaga of Lordsburg; mom, Ramona Artiaga of Lordsburg; brothers, Benny Artiaga (Paqui) of Lordsburg, Jaime Artiaga (Maria) of Las Cruces; sister, Suzanna Artiaga of Lordsburg and 2 grandchildren, Roman and Isaac Murillo.  Nuco was preceded in death by his father Juan Benito and his brother Alfredo Artiaga.

Pallbearers will be Vincent Barrio, Benny Artiaga III, Jesse Artiaga, Jaime Artiaga Jr., Gabriel Artiaga,  Javier Artiaga, Edward Parra and Freddy Artiaga Jr.  Honorary bearers are Kris and Eric Artiaga.
