Carlos "Charlie" Alvo

Carlos Alvo “Charlie”, 82, of Bayard passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Gila Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at five o’clock in the evening at Baca’s Funeral Chapels followed by the Prayer Vigil and Rosary at six o’clock.  Officiating will be Deacon Bill Holguin. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, January 20, 2020 at ten o’clock in the morning at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard.  Concluding services and burial will follow at the Vanadium Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Jude Okonkwo. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Alvo, Ron Delgado, Jimmy Kirker, Russell Gilpin, Larry Gonzalez and Manuel Teran.

Charlie was born on January 8, 1938 to Jose M. Alvo and Maria Laura Figueroa in Vanadium. He married Magdalena Roybal and were together for 57 years.  Charlie worked for the Kennecott and also was the owner of Mi Ranchito in Bayard.  He loved to spend time fishing, hunting, bowling and playing softball. Charlie will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Mary Alvo; sons, Edward Alvo, Gilbert Alvo (Elizabeth) and Robert Alvo; four grandchildren, Megan Delgado (Ron), Jessica Alvo, Joshua Alvo and Isabella Alvo; four great-grandchildren, Eliana Delgado, Abel Garcia, Lola Hernandez, Adam Hernandez; two sisters, Dolores Leon (Pedro) and Cecilia Sandoval; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arturo Alvo; sister, Consuelo Medina.
