Carmen E. Renteria, 91, longtime Lordsburg resident passed away Tuesday June 18, 2019 at Sunshine Haven.
Funeral services will take place Saturday June 22, 2019 at 9 o’clock in the morning at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Deming. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery at 11 o’clock that morning. Deacon Vicente Aguirre will officiate.
“Carmelita” as she was affectionately known was born March 24, 1928 to Cruz Marquez and Marcial Esparza in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. She lived in Lordsburg for 35 years and was employed as Director of Housekeeping for the Holiday Inn and American Hotel. She enjoyed arts and crafts with the Senior Center and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Carmelita was a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Carmelita is survived by 2 sisters, Alicia Ramirez of El Paso and Margarita Cuaron of Juarez; brother-in-law, Vicente Aguirre of El Paso; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcial and Cruz Esparza; husband, Gildardo Renteria; sisters, Dolores Martinez, Herlinda Padilla and Josefina Aguirre.
