Charles Brent Felix “Chuck” passed away suddenly on August 23, 2018 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces at the age of 66.
Chuck, as he was affectionately known, was a resident of Mimbres. He was born November 15, 1951 to Ralph and Hulde Felix in Brawley, California. Throughout his career of teaching school and serving as a probation officer, Chuck spent as much time as possible exploring the wilderness areas of Arizona and New Mexico on horseback with his dog. His readiness to help others, his prowess as a cook, and his keen sense of humor, accompanied by his distinctive laugh, will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Estela; his son Patrick Basillan of San Jose, California; his sister Jan Matsumoto of West Burlington, Iowa, and his niece Maki Bloomberg also of Iowa.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 5 to 6 pm at Baca’s Funeral Chapels with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 6 pm led by Deacon Bill Holguin. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels. On Saturday, September 1, there will be a Memorial Service to elebrate Chuck’s life at 11 am at the Roundup Lodge in Mimbres followed by a potluck luncheon.
