Cornelio Madrid Obituary

CORNELIO GARCIA MADRID

Cornelio G. Madrid, 90, Deming resident entered eternal rest Monday March 19, 2018 with his loving family by his side.

Visitation will be Friday March 23, 2018 at New Life Apostolic Church beginning at 9 o’clock in the morning where funeral services will begin at 11 o’clock. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Cornelio (Nelo) was born in Hachita on September 17, 1927 to Trinidad and Idalia Madrid.  The family eventually moved to Deming where Nelo attended Deming Public Schools.  He completed the 8th grade and worked odd jobs until the age of 17 yrs.  He enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served honorably during WW II in the South Pacific and Asia.  When he returned home he met the love of his life, Florence Uzueta.  They were married on October 7, 1950.  Their union was blessed with three children, Cornelio Jr., Frank and Sylvia.  Nelo relocated his family to California, East Los Angeles, where he raised his two children.

Throughout Nelo's life he served unparalleled kindness, love, impartiality and hospitality.  He was an excellent father.  His love for God, family and friends will live on forever in our hearts.  His laughter will always be with us.

Nelo is survived by one sibling Rachel Piñeda of El Paso, TX.; his two children, Frank Madrid, Sylvia Madrid-Henriquez and spouse Juan.  Preceded in death by parents, Trinidad and Idalia Madrid; son, Cornelio Madrid Jr.; wife, Florence Madrid; 3 brothers, Raymond, Trinidad and Nacho Madrid; sister, Dora Madrid Watson; great grandson, Isaiah Madrid.

Dad you have run the race, you fought the good fight, now the crown awaits you . . . Ephesians 6:1-4 "Children obey your parents in the lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother" - which is the first commandment with a promise - "That it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth". " Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord".
