Herbert Saucedo Obituary

HERBERT V. SAUCEDO, 84, a lifelong resident of Lordsburg and highly respected businessman passed away Friday April 19, 2019 at University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.

Visitation will be Friday evening, April 26, 2019 from 5 to 6 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will begin at 6 o’clock led by Alice Ramirez.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday morning at 9 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Herbert was born June 25, 1934 in Lordsburg to Heriberto A. and Aurora (Verdugo) Saucedo.  Herbert began at an early age what would become his career alongside his parents at their grocery store.  He currently owned and operated Saucedo’s Supermarket and Kelly’s Los Arcos Liquor.  He is remembered by many for his generosity and compassion as he represented the community of Lordsburg as a professional.  Herbert served in the New Mexico National Guard, was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and supported many local activities, especially Maverick Athletics.   

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Connie G. Saucedo of Lordsburg; son, Michael Rene G. Saucedo of Lordsburg; brothers, Manuel D.V. Saucedo and his wife Lois of Lordsburg, Edmund Saucedo of Lordsburg; sisters, Aida S. Estrada and her husband David of Farmington, New Mexico, Irene S. Gutierrez and her husband Oscar of Lordsburg; 3 grandchildren, Patrick Saucedo, Mike Saucedo, and Kristen Saucedo; 1 great granddaughter Abigail Hernandez and a second great grandchild Londyn Jream Saucedo is arriving soon.  Preceding Herbert in death were his parents, one son, Herbert “Kelly” Saucedo and sister Emma Saucedo.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Saucedo, Mike Saucedo, David S. Estrada, Heriberto Romo, Javier Romo, Adrian Romo, Ernie Gutierrez and Gerald O’Donnell.  Honorary bearers are Ernesto “Neto” Renteria, Irene Waites, Thomas Gutierrez, Clara Aguilera and Michael Gutierrez.
