Irene (Altuna) Anaya

Irene Anaya, 83 of Lordsburg passed away July 5, 2018 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

Irene was born June 25, 1935 in Silver City to Ceferino and Maria (Lopez) Altuna.  Irene was the baby in a family of 13 children, all but two have preceded her in death.  She had retired from Southern Pacific Railroad as an administrative assistant and was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Irene will be missed by all who knew and loved her especially her sister, Mary, whom she enjoyed having her daily cup of coffee with.  

Irene is survived by her daughter, Teresa Mejia of Lordsburg, three grandchildren, Gabriel Jacquez, Sydney and Sean Mejia; two sisters, Mary Mora of Lordsburg and Cecilia Altuna of Seattle, Washington.  Also surviving her are many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels.  Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at nine-thirty in the morning on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lordsburg where the Funeral Mass will at ten o'clock.  Officiating will be Father Jude Okonkwo.
