Joe Soto, Jr. 79 of Silver City, passed away January 10, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be at 10:30 am on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Infant Jesus Shrine in Hurley. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 11:00 am followed by the Funeral Mass immediately thereafter. Concluding services and burial will be at the Hurley Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Mike Williams. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons.
Joe was born December 4, 1939 in Hurley to Jose Soto Sr. and Victorina Catarino Soto. He had retired as a machinist from Kennecott Copper Corp. and had spent much time working on all kinds of vehicles showing his fondness for mechanics. When he wasn’t working on cars he spent a lot of his time cowboying. Spending and cherishing the time spent with his family was his greatest joy. He will definitely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joe is survived by seven sons, Joe Soto III, Ruperto Soto, Ernie Soto, Greg Soto, Victor Soto, Edward Soto and Randy Soto; six brothers, Richard Soto, Ernie Soto, Tony Soto, Frank Soto, Ray Soto, and Chris Soto; three sisters, Fina Trujillo, Rita Hardy, and Reina Soto. Also surviving Joe are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parent, Jose and Victorina Soto; two sisters, Clara Sanchez and Gloria Cano as well as two brothers, Edward Soto and Robert Soto.
