JOHN PAUL PELAYO, 70, resident of Deming passed away at his home Tuesday January 15, 2019
A memorial service will be this Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Baca’s Funeral Chapel with Justin Pelayo officiating. As was his request, cremation has taken place.
John was born April 17, 1948 in Deming to Lee and Thelma Pelayo. John’s career began as a Border Patrol agent stationed in Eagle Pass, Texas. His father took ill and John moved back to Deming to return to the farm. Soon after he had left his own mark on the farming community. After years at farming he returned to school in Las Cruces to begin a new career as a Wastewater Treatment Plant operator for the City of Las Cruces and ultimately retired as the Special Projects Coordinator. Soon after he returned home to Deming.
He is survived by his mother, Thelma Pelayo; his sister Lona and his brother Ron; children, Justin (Traci), Cole (Eric Hartman), Patrick, Harley (Derek Cirko), Bethany (Robert Bak); grandchildren, Noah, Audrey, Jacob and Emily.
Not only did he sow the seeds to many crops, he sowed the seeds to a family legacy to come.
