Juan Martinez Arsola – Born February 8, 1925 – Died November 13, 2018
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5 to 6 pm at Baca’s Funeral Chapels in Silver City. The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will follow at 6pm with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga reciting. The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10am at St.Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Concluding Services and Burial will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Oliver Obele. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Ray, Richard Ray, Raynie Arsola, Reagan Arsola, Duvan Arsola and Danny Arsola.
Juan M. Arsola was born in Gila, NM to George Arsola and Francisca Martinez on February 8, 1926 and passed away in Santa Clara, NM on November 13, 2018. Juan was the owner and operator of Johnny’s Barber Shop in Silver City, NM for more than 50 years. It is one of the oldest businesss in Grant County. Juan was one of nine children and was always a hard worker from a very young age. He helped raise his brothers and sisters and worked on the family farm in Gila, NM after his father passed away. Juan met Sofia Carbajal while she was working at a Soda Fountain in Silver City, and they were married on September 21st, 1947 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Juan and Sofia loved travelling, and traveled around the world. They really enjoyed their trips to the Holy Land and the Vatican.
Juan is survived by his sons, John Arsola (Samantha) of Las Cruces, NM, Danny Arsola of Silver City and Albert Arsola of Silver City. His grandchildren, Duvan Arsola of Austin, TX and Danielle Arsola Rodriguez (Mark) of Las Cruces, NM. His great-grandchildren, Lakeisha Arsola, Azzy Arsola and Reagen Arsola of Silver City, NM. His great-great grandson, James Gallegos of Silver City. Sisters, Senovia Ray and Margaret Arsola of Silver City, NM. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juan is preceded in death by his wife, Sofia Arsola, grandson, Reagen Arsola, parents, George and Francisca Arsola, brothers, Silverio, Felipe, Manuel and George and his sisters Diega and Apolonia.
