Lynnita Massengill DeJarnett Obituary

Lynnita (Shick) Massengill De Jarnett, 84, of Silver City, New Mexico went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 3, 2018 with her loving family around her.

 

Lynnita was born on September 23, 1934 to Lynn Thomas and Eudora Brown Shick in Lamesa, Texas.

People knew Lynnita by many names, Sister, Mom, Grandma, Gran, G, Mrs. Massengill, Mrs. M, Aunt Nita, Mrs. De Jarnett and friend.

 

Lynnita was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Muriel Freeman, her sweet daughter, Lisa Massengill, her beloved husband and father of her children, J. S. Massengill, her loving husband, Edward Austin De Jarnett and other loved ones.  Lynnita is survived by her brother, Carrol Dwain Shick, one daughter, Sallie Anderson; three sons and daughters in-law, Dan and Robin, Samuel and Debbie, Tom and Michele Massengill.  She is also survived by her step-son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Judy and step-son, Jim De Jarnett; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren with more on the way.  Surviving also, are her two sweet sisters in-law, Peggy and Selina Massengill and so many extended family members that she loved .  She leaves behind so many friends who meant so much to her.

 

Services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at one o’clock in the afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church  located at 1915 N. Swan St. in Silver City.  In lieu of flowers gifts can be made in her name to Gila Regional Cancer Center in Silver City.
