Mary Lou (Ortiz) Garcia

Mary Lou Garcia, 82, of Silver City passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Fort Bayard Medical Center.

Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels.  A Graveside Service will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at one o’clock in the afternoon and her ashes will be placed with her mother, Maria, at Mountain View Cemetery in Deming.

Mary Lou was born on March 5, 1936 in Fierro, NM to Carmen and Maria Ortiz Garcia.  She lived in Deming most of her life and was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  Mary Lou lived in Silver City the last two and a half years of her life.  She was very independent and always doing things for herself and others. Mary loved to play bingo, was very giving and had many friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  She was everyone’s favorite aunt and she loved all her nieces and nephews as her own.

Mary Lou is survived by her brother, Luis Garcia; sisters, Lucia Anaya and Trinidad Chavez; many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Consuelo Martinez, Rita Garcia and Juana Serna; one brother, Felipe Garcia; her companion, Albert Chavez.
