Monica L. Diaz, 58, of Silver City went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces surrounded by her loving family.
Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Funeral Chapels. The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will take place on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at ten o’clock in the morning at St. Francis Newman Center in Silver City with Deacon Bill Holguin officiating. The Funeral Mass will follow at ten-thirty in the morning. Officiating will be Father Bartholomew Ezenwelem. Serving as pallbearers will be Juan Verdugo Jr., James Verdugo, Patrick Diaz, Jacob Verdugo, Greg Diaz and Robert Diaz. Honorary pallbearers will be David Diaz Jr., Daniel Diaz, Alan Strain, Joseph Verdugo and Matthew Talavera.
Monica was born on November 20, 1960 to Raul Yanez Diaz and Delfina Jimenez Diaz in Lordsburg. Monica attended school in Lordsburg and then went on to attend Western New Mexico University and Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ and earned two Bachelor Degrees. She loved to watch the 49’ers play and color in the adult coloring books. Monica was very talented, organized and a hard worker. Most of all, she loved her nieces and nephews and treated them all as if they were her own children. Monica will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Monica is survived by her mother, Delfina Diaz; sister, Julie Verdugo (Juan); brothers, David Diaz and Paul Diaz (Nolette); nieces, nephews, Juan Verdugo Jr., Jacob Verdugo, James Verdugo, David Diaz Jr., Daniel Diaz, Gregory Diaz, Veronica Diaz, Vanessa Diaz, Teresa Diaz, Victoria Diaz, Leticia Diaz and Patrick Diaz. She was preceded in death by her father, Raul Y. Diaz; grandparents, Inez and Delores Diaz, Jesus and Julia Jimenez; son, Raul Diaz Jr., nephew, Joseph Michael Verdugo.
