Rachel Manzano, age 78, resident of Ajo, Arizona, passed away after struggling with cancer, surrounded by her family on November 9th 2018.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 2pm at Baca’s Funeral Chapels in Silver City, NM. Following her memorial service there will be a dinner for her family and friends.
Rachel was born June 30th, 1940 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to mother Inez Manzano and father Eljio Manzano. She was one of four children, with two brothers and one sister. She spent her younger years working as a cook at the Gila Regional Hospital in Silver City, NM. She later furthered her career and graduated from Western New Mexico University, with a degree in education. She went on to teach grade school in Arizona where she moved after graduating. She taught for 19 years before retiring after a long and fulfilling career. She loved her family, music, animals and playing bingo. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed spending the holidays with her family, especially for Thanksgiving.
She is survived by her four children Marla Lopez, Mike Gulick, Adam Gulick and Adrianna Behn, as well as her seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
