Raymundo "Ray" Escobedo

Raymundo (Ray) Escobedo, 89, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Fort Bayard Medical Center in Santa Clara, NM.

Ray was born on April 24, 1929 to Pedro Chavez Escobedo and Maria Luna Escobedo in Solomon, Arizona.  He enjoyed his morning and evening walks, watching cowboy movies and visiting with family and friends.  Anyone who went to visit was offered a pepsi.  He loved to joke and make everyone laugh and he had quite the sense of humor.  Ray made friends wherever he went and he will truly be missed by those who knew him.

Ray is survived by his sons, Michael Escobedo (Julie) of Los Angeles, CA, Randy Escobedo of Los Angeles, CA. and Ray Escobedo Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters, Jackie Orosco of Tucson, AZ., Kim Fletcher (Armando) of Silver City, NM,  Candy Sanchez (Johnnie) of Silver City, NM and Starla Rodriguez of Las Cruces, NM; a very special nephew Marvin Escobedo who he loved like a son.  He is also survived by Gabriella (Gabby) Arciero who adopted him and called him grandpa; he had 17grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.  Ray was preceded in death by his loving devoted wife, Mary; his parents, Pedro and Maria Escobedo; siblings, Cesario Escobedo, Carmen Montez, Beatrice Ruiz, Juanita Montoya, Ysabel Ornelas, Pedro (Pete) Escobedo; his niece was close as a sister to him Juanita Juarez.

Ray was an Army, Air Force Veteran and inurnment with military honors will be at Rest Haven Cemetery on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1pm in Safford, AZ.  Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels.
