Soledad B. Franco, 81, of Silver City passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will take place on Monday, November 12, 2018 at five o’clock in the evening at Baca’s Funeral Chapels in Silver City. The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will follow at six o’clock with Deacon Bill Holguin, reciting. The Funeral Liturgy will be Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at ten o’clock in the morning at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Concluding services and burial will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Raul. Officiating will be Father Oliver Obele. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Soledad was born on March 25, 1937 to Marin Barrandey and Maria de Jesus Rey in Camargo Chihuahua Mexico. Soledad married Raul Franco and together they raised nine children. Soledad spent most all of life in front of a sewing machine, creating everything from bride and bride-maids dresses, to alterations. Her love of knitting and crocheting showed by the gifts of scarves and afghans she would give to practically anyone. Although she spent most of her time sewing, she found the time to enjoy dancing and spending time with her husband, Raul. Having eight children, Soledad was blessed with many grandchildren, which she loved and adored. Soledad will be dearly missed by all by all her family and friends, whom she also held close to her heart.
Soledad is survived by her children, Omero Franco, Onorio Franco (Beverly), Olga Franco Hodges (Arthur), Onorina Franco, Oscar Franco (Lisa), Orlando Franco (Kelly), Omar Franco (Kristi); grandchildren, Laura Bates (Luke), Raul (Allison) Franco, Onorio Franco Jr., Jason Jordan (Audrey), Victoria Manyfield, Justin Manyfield, Stefan Franco, Tristan Franco, Rodney Franco (Sativa), Dustin Franco, Xolymar, Yselle, Zelaihda and Xayliez Franco; great-grandchildren, John and Gabriel Bates, Asyia and Jayla Jordan, Tyree, Avery and Jeremiah Manyfield, Vincent Brand. Also surviving Soledad are a brother, Diego Barrandey and sister Cipriana Chavez Barrandey. Soledad was preceded in death by her husband, Raul; daughter, Oralia; son, Juan Manuel; a grandson, Donaciano and seven siblings.
