William Carl Hile, 93, died peacefully in his sleep on September 15, 2019, at his home in Silver City.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 10, 1927 to Sara and Renald Hile. Bill lived in Pittsburgh until the age of 30, when he and his family moved to Columbus, Ohio.
Bill entered the Navy in August 1945, and served his country for two and half years. He was later recalled to serve again from September 1950 to June 1951 during the Korean War. Bill worked as a Journeyman Electrician in various phases including railroad, construction and maintenance in manufacturing plants in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Arizona.
Bill loved cars and owned about 20 different makes and models in his life. He also loved dogs and always had from one to three of them in his family. Camping and mobile trailer vacations led him to the west where he fell in love with the country and in 1978 moved to Arizona. In 1994 he moved to Silver City to enjoy his retirement. Golf, gardening, home carpentry and playing bridge at the Senior Center were his favorite activities.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cleone McDonald; brother, Paul Hile, OH; son, Robert (Cynthia) Hile, FL; daughter, Marilyn (Rol) Elikofer, OH; son, Kerry (Cathy) Hile, OH; granddaughter, Jessica Hile, OH; two brothers-in-law, Keith (Ginger) Trzynka and John (Marilyn Trzynka; three step-children, Mile Leggett, FL, Shirley Leggett, OH and Richard McDonald, Silver City and his dog, Alibaba. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sara and Renald Hile; wife, Marilyn; wife, Eva; his brother, Daryl and sister-in-law, Wilma Jeanne Hile.
Bill has requested cremation, no service, and expressed the hope that friends and family will remember the good times.
Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels.
