Adan Rivera

Adan Rivera, 90, of Silver City, NM passed away surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

A Recitation of the Holy Rosary led by Deacon Richard Maynes will take place at twelve o'clock, noon on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at St. Francis Newman Center in Silver City. The Funeral Mass will begin at twelve-thirty. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at two 'clock at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded. Father Bartholomew Ezenwelem will officiate.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Miguel Lozano, JR Lozano, Scott Martinez, Mathew Rivera, Patrick Rivera, Ethan Rivera. Honorary Pallbearers are Thomas and Zachary Rivera.

Adan was born August 7, 1933 in Palma, NM to Jose and Eva J. Rivera. He led a life of service, first to his Lord, as a dedicated member of every parish where he resided-Our Lady of Guadalupe in Encino, NM, San Miguel Mission in Socorro, and St. Francis Newman Center in Silver City; to his family as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather; to his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the repair ship, the USS Hector; to his community through the sixth and seventh judicial districts as a court clerk and court reporter; to the American Legion Allingham-Golding Post 18; and to the State of New Mexico as a State Senator.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Juanita Rivera; sister, Oralia Archibeque; children, Marty Rivera (Cindy), Debbie Rivera, Matilda Enlund (Peter), Elaine Martinez (Mike), Charles Rivera, Jeffrey Rivera, Brian Rivera (Corrina), Geraldine Rivera, and Frederick Rivera; grandchildren, Michele, Melissa, Melinda, Thomas, Miguel, JR, Scott, Zachary, Alysha, Deandra, Ethan, Mathew, Patrick and Shyanne Miller; great-grandchildren, Josephine, Karla, Braylon, Mickaela, Mia, Kadance, Zoe, Henry, Emery, Westyn, Elikai, and Endri.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Eva Rivera; five siblings; and his grandson, Tyrone Rivera.
