Alice Jean Barka

Alice J. Barka, 91, of Lordsburg passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Silver City Care Center-Genesis surrounded by her loving family. 

A Graveside Service will take place on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at one o’clock in the afternoon at the Gila Cemetery.  Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels. 

Alice was born on March 18, 1930 in Gila to John Barka and Pauline Polanco Barka.  She enjoyed  working on her yard, crocheting and cooking for her family and others and was known for her good red chile. Alice lived most of her life in Lordsburg, was a hard working Christian woman and believe in God and her favorite song was “One day at a time”.  Her caregiver, Priscilla would always sing this song to Alice.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Alice is survived by her brother, Eddie Barka of Gila; a special nephew, Eddie Joe Diaz and his family of Silver City; beloved caregiver, Priscilla Talavera of Lordsburg; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline Barka; brothers, Thomas, Frank, William, John and Jimmy Barka; sisters, Inez Hood, Irene Hood, Mary Elizabeth Barka and Iola Diaz.
