Alice Bonilla

Alice Bonilla, 71 of Bayard, NM passed away peacefully Monday, May 4, 2020 at Fort Bayard Medical Center.

Alice was born July 20, 1948 in Artesia, NM to Antonio and Eva Calderon Bonilla.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church a Crusillista and a friend to anyone who needed one.  Alice was also a caregiver and a loving babysitter who was affectionately known as “Nana” by many. She loved whole heartedly and was fiercely defensive of those she cared for.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Sonya Ruiz (Victor) of Silver City; one son, Eric Bonilla of Hurley, NM and a Daughter In Law Tina Bonilla of Tucson; three sisters, Molly Chavez (Zeke) of Arenas Valley, Anita Bonilla Grossman  and Archie (Tony) Rizzuti of Tucson sister in law, Mary Ann Bonilla of Carlsbad; And a special friend who she considered a sister Connie Medina of Bayard.  Five Granddaughters who she loved with all her heart, Arissa Hobbs Ruiz, Alexys Ruiz, Aisha Hagen, Bailey Bonilla and Gabriela Bonilla; also surviving Alice are her two great grandchildren , Azzlynn  and Adrian Davila.  She was preceded in death by her brother Ernesto Bonilla and her parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels.  A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, May 8, 2020.  Officiating will be Deacon Bill Holguin.
