Amado H Casillas

 Amado H. Casillas, 86, lifelong Deming resident passed away Monday May 3, 2021 at La Posada Nursing Home in Las Cruces.

Visitation will begin on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 9 o’clock in the morning at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church followed by a prayer vigil at 10 to be led by Christine B. Milo. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11 o’clock with concluding services and interment at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Jesus Martinez will officiate with veteran honors accorded.  COVID-19 restrictions will be in place, must wear a mask and social distancing will apply. Current cemetery restrictions allow 10 people at the graveside with the remainder of those attending to remain in their vehicles.

Amado was born August 5, 1934 to Aurelia Hernandez and Angel Casillas Sr. in Deming. He attended the Deming Public Schools and entered the US Air Force retiring after 20 years of service.  He later worked for the State of New Mexico for 20 years as an interpreter from which he also retired. One of his greatest enjoyments was taking walks with the love of his life, his loyal companion “Baby”.   Amado was also a communicant of the Catholic Church.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Abel Ray Casillas and his companion Jeri, Daniel Casillas and his wife Mary both of Albuquerque; 2 daughters, Sandra Torres and her husband Robert of Roswell, Dolores Avent and her husband Bobby of Midland, TX and Christina Dobbs of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Amado was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; siblings, Angel, Joe, Edward, Robert, Lola, Aurelia and Leonore.

Serving as pallbearers are Ray and Danny Casillas, Robert Torres, Bobby Avent, Daniel Casillas and John Natera.
