Ana Gomez Obituary

Born in the beautiful town of Villa De Reyes, San Luis Potosi on June 18, 1946, Ana Maria Gomez passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024 in El Paso, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 9 to 11 o’clock in the morning at Baca’s Funeral Chapel with a Funeral Liturgy to take place at 11 with Deacon Bill Holguin officiating. Cremation will follow and has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.

Anita dedicated her life to caring for those she loved most, her family. She was born in a small town and had a tough childhood due to the passing of her father at a young age. She was one of twelve siblings, and they all had to help. Regardless of what she may have gone through growing up, she was a very kindhearted person. She showed affection by welcoming anyone into her home and always had something to eat. She showed her family and friends love by preparing our favorite meals with so much love and care. She enjoyed baking and spending time in her rose garden, tending to her fruit trees, she truly had a green thumb. In Mass today, the priest spoke upon the different ways we show our love for God, either with our words or physical actions. Anita expressed her devotion much like her love with physical actions. In Romans 12:10 we are told “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourself.” Anita truly embodied this during her life, as she dedicated several years to the care of her young granddaughters who fondly remember her sharing sweet words of encouragement and love while having their hair brushed and braided before school, or just sitting with her on the couch at night watching telenovelas together.

Anita is survived by her husband John Gomez, and her legacy lives on through the lives of her children, Benito Mendoza his wife Ana Lidia and their two daughters Ana Cristina and Claudia Elizabeth, Maria Estrada and her three daughters Eliana, Dalia, Nubia, Angelica Estrada with her two daughters, the eldest Stephanie, and her husband James along with their children Nicholas and Penelope, and her youngest Gisela with her fiancé Shelby. Miguel Estrada his wife Mayra and their five children, Michelle, Maximus, Thera, Melody, and Juan Miguel, and her youngest son Juan Erasto Estrada. She is also survived by her siblings Josefina Mendoza de Castro, Jose Mendoza, Carmen Davenport, Otilia Mendoza de Lewis and Francisco Mendoza and many loving nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Anita is pre-deceased by her parents Catalina Monroy Alarcon and Audias Mendoza. Anita will be remembered in our hearts, in our family, and all the lives she touched, either by the food she so lovingly prepared or the extraordinary care she gave.
