Antonio Fajardo Delgado, 90, a resident of Silver City, passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord at his residence, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Antonio was born in Silver City on September 6, 1934, to Antonio P. Delgado and Alcaria F. Delgado. He was a loving, caring, and considerate person who touched the lives of everyone he met. Antonio cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren deeply.
He began working at an early age in construction, later serving as a custodian for Silver Consolidated Schools. He also helped run the chain at high school football games and retired as a maintenance worker. Antonio enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, listening to music, dancing,) telling jokes, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. His warm spirit and kind heart will be greatly missed, but he will forever remain in our hearts.
Antonio is survived by his two daughters, Patty Jaurequi (Alex) and Judy Vasquez (Edward); two sons, Tony Delgado and James Delgado (Yolanda); his grandson, Isaac Delgado (Keyanna); 21 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren, all of Silver City. He is also survived by his sister, Dora Ordonez (Arthur), and his friend/brother, Adolfo Ybarra.
Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio P. and Alcaria F. Delgado; his beloved wife, Emilia Montes Delgado; his daughter, Yvonne Delgado; his granddaughter, Christine Madrid; his grandson, Isaiah Madrid; his great-granddaughter, Ilyana Lopez; and his siblings: Seniada Lopez, Anita Delgado, Maria Delgado Montoya, and Eddie Delgado.
Visitation will take place at five-thirty in the evening on Friday, April 4, 2025 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City, New Mexico. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Prayer Vigil will begin at six o’clock. The Funeral Mass will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Saint Francis Newman Center in Silver City. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery where he will be laid to rest by his beloved wife, Emilia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Antonio Delgado IV, Lawrence Turrieta Jr., Joshua Turrieta, Isaac Delgado, Jeremy Delgado, and Andrew Velasquez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Delgado, James Delgado, Edward Vasquez, Alex Jaurequi, Hondo Jaurequi, Robert Velasquez, Pat Paez, Frank Gonzalez, Ruben Flores, and all his remaining friends and family.
