Antonio G. Meza Jr.

ANTONIO G. MEZA JR., 73, passed away Saturday April 24, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.

Visitation will be Saturday morning, May 8, 2021 beginning at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where a rosary will begin at 10 o’clock to be led by Alice Ramirez.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 o’clock with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating.  Concluding services and interment with honors will be at Shakespeare Cemetery.

Antonio was born March 25, 1948 to Antonio Meza Sr. and Pilar Garcia Meza in Lordsburg.  He served his country in the United States Army for over 25 years.  First being called to Vietnam in 1968 – 1970 and after returning he reenlisted and served until his retirement in 1990. Antonio also worked with the City of Lordsburg for several years.  He loved dancing, listening to Little Joe and oldies music, watching Western’s, The Jefferson’s, Walker Texas Ranger and MASH on television.

He is survived by his children, Tony Meza III of El Paso, TX, Michael Meza (Lilah) of Silver City, Julie Meza (Ida) of Lordsburg; three stepchildren, Maryann Martinez, Priscilla Pena and Joe Gonzalez; 5 grandchildren, Michael Meza Jr., Samantha Garza, Christa Meza, Angela O’ Donnell, and Christopher Montoya; 12 great grandchildren; brother Daniel Meza (Sue) of Albuquerque; 3 sisters, Lillian Blaylock of Helotes, Texas, Evelyn Gomez of Las Cruces and Linda De La Garza of Lordsburg.  Antonio was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Pilar and son Christopher T. Meza.

Pallbearers will be Michael L. Meza, Joe Gonzalez, Gabriel Rodriguez, Benji Talavera, Manny Sanchez and Dominique Duncan.  Honorary pallbearer is Bido Marquez.
