Arturo Fernando Maxwell

Arturo F. Maxwell passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his children on January 14, 2023. He was born in Lordsburg, NM on June 2, 1936 and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Lordsburg High School and afterwards joined the Air Force from 1956-1960 where he was a jet engineer.  He traveled many places during his time in the service.  Upon his Honorable Discharge, he returned to Lordsburg, NM where he married the love of his life, Lupe.  He worked several jobs beginning with the City of Lordsburg, Port of entry and Southern Pacific.  He Retired from Southern Pacific and enjoyed staying home, watching his college and pro football games and keeping up with the Lordsburg Maverick football team.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lupe R. Maxwell, his son, Antonio L. Maxwell, father Pete F. Maxwell, and his mother Luz A. Maxwell.  He is survived by his children, Peter A. Maxwell (Petra), Arthur F. Maxwell (DiAnn), Yvonne Maxwell (Juan), Priscilla Maxwell (Edward) and one sister Teena M. Gandara (Tommy).  He has 9 grandchildren, Ellen, Resa, Cassandra, Dani, Jessica, Maria, Heather, Robert and Juan Diego. He also has 25 great grandchildren.

A gathering honoring Arturo F. Maxwell will be held at his graveside at Shakespeare Cemetery on January 25th, 2023 at 11am.
