Barbara Horning
On October 2, 2021 the good lord chose to take our family angel and soldier.
She was born on October 23, 1941 in Shellsburg, Iowa to William and Aletha (Barton) Raue. She was pre deceased by 5 brothers: William Jr., Kenneth, David, Jerry and Robert 1 sister Vicky (Dolly) Gent.
She is survived by her husband Larry Horning of Deming, New Mexico, Brother Rick Raue and wife Wendy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Son William Chamberlain of Marion Iowa, a daughter Eunice Turner of Deming, New Mexico, brother-in-law Mathis Gent of Marion Iowa, brother-in-law Garth Horning and wife Ginger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and brother-in-law Craig Horning of Deming, NM.
She is survived by 2 loving grandchildren Tia Turner of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ryan Turner and wife Tamara Johnson-Turner of Aloha, Oregon. Her cherished 4 great-grandchildren Louey, Dean, GeorgieRae and Roan of Aloha, Oregon whom she loved so greatly.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored.
She was a long time and devoted member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 4, Deming, NM. She was an officer of the Unit 4 for many years. She loved and was very devoted to the American Legion Auxiliary New Mexico Girls State. Her volunteerism and helpfulness to the many Deming projects shall be forever missed.
A Celebration of Life for Barbara shall be conducted at the American Legion, 619 W. Spruce St. at 3: 00 PM on October 23, 2021.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be provided to the New Mexico Girls State or to the Deming Animal Shelter.
