Barbara Johannes Taylor Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Dean (Moore) Johannes Taylor on September 17, 2024, at the age of 81. She passed after a six-week battle of heart and kidney failure complications of diabetes. Born on November 12, 1942, in Lordsburg NM, to her father and mother, Wallace “Dogie” Moore and Nadine Guess Moore. Preceded in death by her parents, a son Guy "Rooster” Johannes III and both of her previous husbands. Guy Johannes II and Freddie M. Taylor.

Barbara is survived by her beloved children, Freddy Taylor, Carl Taylor, Kenny Taylor (LaDonna), Patricia Taylor, Frank Johannes, Melanie Tharp (Harold) Anni Bazan (Lorenzo) and Russell Taylor. She cherished her 13 grandchildren that gave her 12 great grandchildren. One sister-in-law Gail Monger (Darrell) and Brother-in-law Don Taylor (Cynthia) 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Not to exclude the many children that she helped raise and house over her lifetime and many friends along with extended family across the land. She never turned away a stray kid or animal. She always made a meal that would feed the masses.

Barbara graduated from Hachita Public School in 1960 with a graduating class of 6 girls total. She had a perfect attendance throughout her entire school time. She was the secretary and treasurer of the senior class. She played volleyball for the Hachita Billy Goats and was a cheerleader during the basketball season. Clubs include Paper Staff, 4-H, P.E., Sports Education, Industrial Arts and Annual Staff.

Barbara was half the size of most of us with a spit fire attitude that could get the job done of the full-size cowboys that she raised. She could wrangle up the cattle with the best and then feed you a meal that was made with love from the heart.

Barbara held a variety of jobs over the years, along with being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. At a young age Barbara embraced her role as a ranch hand, working alongside her father and mother helping manage the family ranch. Her strength and dedication were evident in every task she undertook, and she took great pride in contributing to the ranching community.
