Beverly Quinlan Obituary

Beverly K. Quinlan, 72, Deming resident entered eternal rest on Monday, January 10, 2022 at her home.

Beverly K. (Borden) Quinlan was born to Oscar and Norma (Garner) Borden on August 7, 1949 in Monte Vista Colorado. She graduated high school from Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya, East Africa. She received her Elementary Education Degree from Anderson College, Anderson, IN 1971. After graduation Bev moved to Illinois where she met and married John Jack Quinlan. They were married for 26 years before Jack passed away. She enjoyed 34 years of teaching elementary school in Washington, Illinois. After retiring, she and Jack moved to Deming, New Mexico. Bev loved to travel with many trips taken within the United States often to visit friends, classmates or family for reunions. She traveled abroad to Tanzania, East Africa and to Ireland. She visited Greece, Israel, Italy and Germany with family during her high school years. Next on her “bucket list” was a trip to Oberammergau Passion Play in the Village of Oberammergau, Bavaria, Germany. Bev was a compassionate and generous person especially with her father, Oscar, in his later years. She was a loyal and giving friend and had recently spent many hours with her dear friend, Louise Martin and her family before Louise’s passing. She never met a stranger and would easily strike up conversations and laugh with most anyone, anywhere.

Bev died peacefully at her home in Deming after a brief illness in the loving care of cousins Linda Stegman, Joy Borden and Sandy Cummings. She was also cared for by a longtime friend Trish Ritter and her, sister Betty Cowart.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Norma Borden and her husband, Jack Quinlan.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Borden Cowart (Jon Klapp) of Flagler Beach, FL; brother, Byron (Lisa) Borden of Arusha, Tanzania; step-sons, Michael (Debbie) Quinlan of Loveland CO and Patrick (Jill) Quinlan of Littleton CO; 3 nieces, 3 nephews, 6 grandnieces and grandnephews along with many other extended family members.

A family memorial service will be held this summer with extended family and friends. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
