Billy Wayne Harris, 70, a remarkable father, grandfather, friend and a beloved figure in the Deming, New Mexico community, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a zest for life. Billy was a self-made man who embraced every opportunity that came his way, living life to the fullest.

A devoted father, Billy cherished his role in the lives of his children, instilling in them the values of hard work, determination, and the importance of family. He filled their lives with countless adventures, whether it was tinkering with cars in the garage, throwing horseshoes, watching football games together, playing cards, or cheering them on racing. His enthusiasm for cars was only rivaled by his love for Elvis Presley, and many fond memories were made listening to the King’s hits while cruising the open road. As a self-made man, Billy exemplified the spirit of hard work and perseverance. He built a life for himself through determination and grit, earning the respect and admiration of those who knew him. His contributions to his community and the friendships he cultivated were a testament to his character.

Billy’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will remember him for his kindness, humor, and unwavering support. He leaves behind his son, Billy Roy (Heather); a daughter, Mercedes (Robert); grandchildren, Kamille, Alayna, Remington, Piper, Kristofer, Mariah (Tim) and a great-grandchild Kinsley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary and a daughter Jamie. 

A celebration of Billy’s life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Baca’s Funeral Chapel at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a man who truly made a mark on this world. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the memories of those he loved.
