Blasa Alvarado Chavarria

Blasa Jessus Alvarado Chavarria entered into eternal rest Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at her home in Santa Clara, NM surrounded by her family.

Blasa was born in Ft. Davis Texas on February 8, 1936 to Miguel and Librada Alvarado.  Blasa married Ruben Pacheco Chavarria on October 13, 1953 in Pecos, Texas. They were married for 73 years.  We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, mother, grandmother than the one we had.

Blasa leaves behind her Viejo Ruben P. Chavarria, four children Lorenza Chavarria, Ruben Jose Chavarria, Dickie Chavarria and Anthony Chavarria and her granddaughter Angelina Trujillo (Barney) who she raised.   She is also survived 13 grandchildren Liza Villalba, Ruben Jose (Joe Joe) Chavarria, Junior Chavarria (Maria), Samantha Chavarria, Josephine Perez, Sharell Luttrell, Alisha Silva, Anthony Chavarria Jr., Ashley Chavarria, Isaac Chavarria, Miguel Chavarria (Adriana), Angelica Boone and Elotario Trujillo.  Blasa also fostered a child Russelle Padilla from the Philippines.  Blasa was blessed with 31 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by one sibling Isabel Orosco of Albuquerque, NM. 

Blasa was a devoted homemaker who took pride in caring for her husband, children and grandchildren.  Throughout her life she served her church in many capacities including, funeral ministries, communion ministry, Cursillo in 1987, St. Vicent De Paul, cleaned the church, and also taught catechism at Santa Clara Church.  She spent a lot of time her time praying the rosary, reading the bible and doing her oraciones.  Blasa enjoyed cooking and baking for her family there was never a day that her family did not have a home cooked meal.  At the age of 51 she worked hard and was proud to receive her GED. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Miguel and Librada Alvarado, daughter Irene Chavarria, four brothers Miguel, Valente, Ernesto and Jose Alvarado, four sisters Irene Alvarado, Valentina Zavala, Josefina Almanza, Lucia Larez, one grandchild Nadine Chavarria and one great grandchild Isaaih Matheu Villalba.

Visitation will be held at nine o’clock in the morning on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Santa Clara Catholic Church in Santa Clara. The Holy Rosary will be recited at ten o’clock. The Mass of Chrisian Burial will be held for Blasa at eleven o’clock. Concluding services and interment will follow at the Santa Clara Cemetery. Father Casmir Anozie will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Chavarria, Anthony Chavarria Jr., Miguel (Mikey) Ruben Chavarria, Miguel (Lito) Chavarria, Junior Chavarria, Elotario Trujillo.

Honorary Pallbearers are Dickie Chavarria, Ruben Jose Chavarria, all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
