Obituary

Bobbie Sue Shurtz-Gossett, 62, of Silver City passed away at her home on Friday, March 24, 2023.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels.

Bobbie was born on December 20, 1960 to Robert K. and Audrey Lee (Van Gilder) Shurtz.

She was the mother of two sons, Nickolas J. Shurtz born January 11, 1985 and George N. Gossett born August 14, 1986. Bobbie attended Western New Mexico University where she received an Associate of Science Degree in Drafting and Design. She was an avid computer technician, having built over 30 computers during the course of her career. From 1995 to 2008, Bobbie applied her skills within the mining industry, doing survey work and carrying out various responsibilities with the Cobre, Chino, and Stillwater Mining companies. She will be remembered by those who loved her as a warm-hearted soul who went out of her way to help those in need.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Audrey Lee Shurtz; and sister, Tina Shurtz Osborne.

She is survived by her sons, Nickolas Shurtz and George Gossett; sister, Kim Hernandez (Roy); four nieces; one nephew; aunt, Pat Shurtz (Daryl); and many cousins.
