Bobbie Wooten Obituary

Bobbie Ann Wooten, age 60, passed into eternal rest and peace on Saturday, September 18th, 2021, at Mimbres Memorial Hospital in Deming, New Mexico.

She was born on December 27th, 1960, in Fordyce, Arkansas, to Robert and Joan Wooten.

Bobbie Wooten was a special education teacher at Hurley Elementary and an advocate for the handicapped. She was a long-time resident of Silver City and moved to Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home for just over a year.

Throughout her life, Bobbie attended the First Baptist Church, Sixth Street Baptist Church, and the Newman Center. In her later years, Bobbie was fond of the teachings of the Baha’i faith.

Bobbie had many hobbies during her life. When she was young, she was a devoted Girl Scout for eight years. She loved creating art, watching movies, and listening to rock and roll. Her friends and family were her world and helped to make her life meaningful and special.

Bobbie attended Silver Schools through high school and graduated from Western New Mexico University. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in elementary education, special education, bilingual education, and art.

Miss Wooten was preceded in death by her father Bob Wooten, cousin Sam Conn, grandmother Lenora McMan, and son-in-law Nicolas Bobo. Survivors include her mother, Joan Wooten; two daughters, Ashley Bobo of Deming and Azriel O’Neal with her husband Kent O’Neal of Las Cruces; and four grandchildren Rachel, Devaughn, Nicolas, and Peyton. She is also survived by sister Linda Wooten of Silver City and niece Mikiah Moore of Tucson and sister Debi Schmidt with husband Tip Schmidt of Prescott, Arizona; and nephew Mike Schmidt and niece Aryn Lambson of Tucson, Arizona.

Visitation will be held at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City, New Mexico, on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 2:00 pm. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 pm. There will be a graveside ceremony after the funeral services at Memory Lane Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers are Devaughn Wooten, Nicolas Bobo, Kent O’Neal, Harley O’Neal, Jose Molina, and John Berry.

Masks will be required indoors and encouraged outdoors. Please help us to honor the State's mandate and keep everyone attending safe and healthy.
