Brandon R. Cuevas, 36, of Bayard, NM passed away June 2, 2023 in Arizona.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at Six o’clock in the evening on Monday, June 12, 2023 at the Western New Mexico University Fine Arts Center Theatre led by Cynthia Martinez. The Funeral Liturgy will be at Ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Pinos Altos Catholic Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his father, Paul. Serving as casket bearers will be Xavier Cuevas, Erik Cuevas, Dan Millikan, Ern Cuhen, Steve Norero, Daniel Gomez, Andy Gomez V, and Anthony Steyskal. Honorary bearers is his niece, Lexi Escobar, Regan Arsola, Arthur Ortiz.
Brandon was born September 8, 1986 in Silver City to Paul and Virginia Cuevas. He attended and graduated from Cobre High School in 2005 and went on to Western New Mexico University and received an honorary certificate in Welding. Brandon was a very talented person who could learn and master just about anything, from welding, auto mechanics, masseur, to cutting hair like his dad. He enjoyed listening to his music and spending time with his family and friends, working on his vehicles and following his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Anyone who came around Brandon became a friend, as he loved being around people. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Brandon is survived by his mother, Virginia Cuevas; son, Xavier Cuevas; sisters, Victoria Millikan (Dan), Valerie Escobar, and Crystal Cuevas (Mo); brother, Erik Cuevas; Nieces and Nephews, Larissa, Isabella, Danathan, Lexi, Jaslyne, Maddox, Zayden, Kyran and Alyk. Also surviving Brandon is aunts, Linda Strauss (Don), Olga Neff, Cecilia Acosta (George); uncles, Manuel Torres, Silverio Torres, Fred Cuevas and Eddie Cuevas (Annette). Brandon was preceded in death by his father, Paul Cuevas; brother Javier Cuevas; maternal grandmother, Josephine Torres; paternal grandparents, Pilar and Alfredo Cuevas; Godparents, Alfonso and Jean Torres; uncles Victor Torres Jr., Roy Ybarra, Manny Arzaga, Daniel Lopez, Michael Cuevas, David Cuevas and Alfonso Cuevas; Aunt Patricia Cuevas.
