It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Candelario M. Acosta, 77, who entered eternal life on May 30, 2026.
Visitation will be Tuesday morning, June 9, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Deming. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 o’clock at St. Ann Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Basso officiating. Concluding services and interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery.
Lalo, as he was fondly known as was born on June 3, 1948 in El Paso, Texas to Melecio and Flora Mendoza Acosta. He lived in Deming most of his life where he worked in the farming industry and also owned his trucking company. Lalo has been a resident of Las Cruces for about the last 10 years. He will be remembered for his loving heart, dedication to his family, and a lasting impact on all who knew him. Though his presence will be missed, the love that he shared remains with us always.
He is survived by his daughters, Clarisa Acosta (Rudy Zapata) Valerie Acosta and Julie Robles of Las Cruces; mother of his children, Socorro Escobedo; brothers Robert Acosta (Linda) of Las Cruces, Luis Acosta (Rosa) of Deming; sister, Concha Acosta (Merc) of Albuquerque; 24 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 2 great great-granddaughters; and special friend Nena Allison. Lalo was preceded in death by his parents, Melecio and Flora Acosta; sons Abraham and Jasper Acosta; grandsons Abraham Acosta Jr., Julian Romo, Marcos Acosta and great grandson Julian Acosta; sister, Rosa Sandoval; and brothers Javier and Arturo Acosta.
Pallbearers will be Javier Acosta, Jose Romo, Mario Acosta, Michael Acosta, Aaron Acosta, Nicholas Acosta, Israel Nevarez and Isaac Nevarez. Honorary Bearers are Angelica Acosta, Eli Acosta, Destiny Acosta and Jessica Acosta.
