Carmen Schubert, 81, of Denver, Colorado and previously Deming, New Mexico, passed away on October 9, 2024.

Carmen Lopez was born on November 23, 1942 to Francisco and Maria Lopez in Chicago, Illinois.  After graduating from high school, she went on to work various jobs until she met Gene Schubert in 1963.  They wed in 1965 going on to have three children Dorene, Gene Jr., and Mark. They moved to Deming, New Mexico in 1978 to live a fulfilling life together.

When Carmen had her children, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful wife and mother.  Carmen excelled at supporting her husband and children in their various activities and life events.  She made it her mission to help others and improve their lives.

Carmen was passionate about other children as well.  She was a substitute teacher for the Deming Public School system and worked hard to help those students in need, especially those with special education for many years.  Carmen also was passionate about being with friends and playing Bingo, even becoming a Bingo caller for various organizations including the Senior Citizens Center, DAV, Elk’s, and Knights of Columbus to name a few. She was also active with Holy Family Catholic Church. We will miss her greatly.

Carmen was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband Gene, and daughter in law Yolanda Schubert.

Carmen is survived by her three children Dorene (Budd) Gilfillen, Gene Jr., and Mark (Alice); grandchildren Budd Gilfillen III, Sarah (Michael) Paronto, Luci Jean Schubert, Emily Schubert, and Ethan Schubert and one great grandchild Soleil Paronto as well as her sisters Vera Crowley and Lupe Hashagen and several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
