Claro Gonzales

Claro B Gonzales 91 passed into eternal life Thursday Feb. 11, 2021 at Sunset Vista Assisted Living Facility in Silver City, NM.

He was born May 25 1929 in Las Palomas, NM to Juan and Gregoria Gonzales. Claro was a hard-working man, holding a job at the smelter in Hurley, NM with Kennecott Chino Mines for 37 years. He was forever keeping busy upon retirement. He was a loving family man who would only see the good in other people. Above all, Claro was a God living person.

Proceeding Claro in death were his parents; his first wife Mary; his two sons Bobby and Sammy (Rosie) and also his sister-in-law, Cruz, wife of his brother Robert.

Surviving Claro is his wife Mary Helen; his daughter Josie Chavez (Benny); son Jerry (Frances), son Claro Jr. (Sylvia); also surviving him is his daughter-in-law ,Cecilia, wife of Bobby; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Robert Gonzales, Tony Gonzales (Lydia) and their families.

Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels. A Memorial Mass is scheduled on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 at Infant Jesus Catholic Shrine in Hurley with the Rosary recited at 10am, followed by the Holy Mass at 10:45am. The Grave Site Prayers with burial of ashes will follow at the Hurley Cemetery.

Please show respect at all services. COVID-19 precautions must be taken by wearing masks, proper spacing and the attendance of 25% of the capacity of the church will be allowed at services. Same precautions will be taken at the cemetery, please.
