Young, Concepcion Altamirano, 105, of Hanover, passed away February 13, 2020 at Ft. Bayard Medical Center.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at nine o’clock in the morning at the Santa Clara Catholic Church. The Holy Rosary will be recited by Deacon Richard Rodriguez at ten o’clock followed by The Funeral Mass at ten-thirty. Concluding Services and Burial will follow at the Hanover Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Casmir Anozie. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robert Escobar, Steve Escobar, Michael Jaramillo, Guy Ramirez, Danny Benavidez and Milo Young.
“Chonita”, as she was affectionately known, was born in Columbus, New Mexico on March 25, 1914 to Guillermo and Juliana Altamirano. At the time, her family of twelve was traveling to the United States from Ascencion, Mexico. She was the last surviving member of her nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ellen Escobar (Emeterio), Lilly Gibson, Sally Duran and Sonny Young (Sally), eighteen grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, 72 great, great grandchildren, 2 great, great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel, children Ramona Sterling, Julie Atwater, a twin infant son and five grandchildren.
