Consuelo O. Garcia, 91, of Silver City, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on May 11th, 2021.
Consuelo was born in Silver City on March 23, 1930, to Refugio and Guadalupe Ortiz. Consuelo was a member of the Guadalupanas. She also worked at Hillcrest hospital, Silver City Senior Center was a school Grandma for El Grito Headstart and 6th Street Elementary. Consuelo worked at many local restaurants, was a homemaker and loved cooking and baking. She had many people that loved her cookies, empanadas and burritos. If you needed a place to stay you would always have a meal and a home at her house. Consuelo loved all the holidays, and decorating was something she truly enjoyed. Consuelo will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Her daughters will continue living life for their wonderful Mother with all the life lessons and recipes she taught them.
Consuelo was preceded in death by her parents, 14 siblings and a great grandson Steven Flores. She is survived by three daughters, Anita Tafoya, Lupe Lindsey (Doug), Molly Sedillos (Mike); Grandchildren, Rey Tafoya (Ligia), Edmund Lewis (Lawdawn), Tanya Bueno and Carlos Bueno; Great grandchildren, Sarah, Aisleen (Ruben) Daniel, Jazmine, Edmund Ray (Gabby), Dominique (Brandon), Jordan, Adriana, Andrew, Roman, Analisa, and Victoria; and Great-great grandchildren, Jojo Ares, Sonny, Athena, Atheiah, Jaxon, Tobias, Mia Rae, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 9 to 10 am at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Holy Rosary recited by Deacon Art Gutierrez at 10 am followed by the Holy Mass at 11 am. Concluding services will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rey Tafoya, Edmund Lewis, Daniel Tafoya, Edmund Ray Lewis, Roman Tafoya and Andrew Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren.
