Delia Paez Gutierrez

Delia Paez Gutierrez entered eternal rest on October, 20th, 2023 in Deming, NM.  Delia was born on December 29, 1935 in El Sabinal Chih., Mx. She lived in Palomas Chih., Mx for many years with her late husband Manuel Gutierrez. She moved to Deming, NM in 1997 where she loved to spend time with her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Watching her great grandchildren grow brought her the most joy of all. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Living within walking distance afforded her the opportunity visit church often.  Her faith was very important to her and she ended every phone call with a long blessing.  The walls of her home were adorned with pictures of family, friends, and items depicting her faith. She was a strong and hardworking woman who loved to cook home cooked meals for her family, friends, and those she loved. Empanadas during the holidays were her specialty.  Her family takes solace in knowing she’s now restfully at peace. 

Delia is survived by her son Gilbert Paez (Olivia) of Deming NM, her grandchildren Laura Bruggemann (Jeremy), Patrick Paez, Carlos Paez (Rehema), and Lisa Gomez (Xavier), and great grandchildren Julian Gomez, Gabriella Bruggemann, Jordan Gomez, Ava Bruggemann, and Enzi Paez. She is also survived by her siblings Francelia Paez de Chavira, Bertha Smith, and Bety Paez de Aranda. She leaves behind José Aguilar, Juan Aguilar, Concha Armendariz, Raquel Palma, and many extended family and friends. She’s preceded in death by her husband Manuel Gutierrez, mother Manuela Enriquez, father Dionicio Paez, and siblings Alejandro Paez, Gilberto Paez, Rosa Pacheco, Arcelia Aguilar, Nelly Miranda, Juventino Paez, Manuel Paez, Lupe Paez, and Alfredo Paez. 

The family would like to extended gratitude to the staff and residents of Mimbres Memorial Hospital Nursing home for their care in helping her feeling at home in her final days.  

Visitation will be Friday October 27, 2023 from 4 to 6 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel where recitation of the rosary will begin at 6 o’clock to be led by Irma Jaurequi.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday morning at 10 at St. Ann Catholic Church with Fr. Aloysius Orekie officiating.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Carlos Paez, Patrick Paez, Julian Gomez, Jose Luis Aguilar, Juan Aguilar, Jeremiah Bruggemann.
