Denis Francis Murphy

On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, Denis Francis Murphy, loving father and life companion, passed away in his home surrounded by his loved ones, at age 71.

Denis was born on September 14, 1948 in Exeter, New Hampshire to Henry & Virginia Murphy.He was raised inCouncil Grove, KS and attended Emporia State University for a few years. After that his life’s journey took him all over the country. He lived in Boston, MA, parts of Texas, San Clemente, CA, Wichita, KS and Prescott, AZ, eventually settling in Phoenix, AZ where he raised his two daughters, Ashley and Danielle. In 2006, he retired to Tyrone, NM.

Denis was best known for his quick wit, sense of humor and dedication to his family. He enjoyed watching sports, carpentry, hiking, fishing, and the great outdoors. He loved the beach and the mountains. He was hard working, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a wise crack and a smile.

Denis was preceded in death by his father First Lieutenant Henry G Murphy, his mother Virginia L. Linn and his step-father, Benjamin A Linn. He is survived by his partner in life Annie LaRoe, his two daughters, Ashley Eberle and Danielle Terry, four grandchildren and his siblings Marilyn Murphy, Benjamin Linn II, Dale Linn, Robert Linn, and Penny Still.

Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels.  A private memorial will be held at a later date, his ashes will be spread in the beautiful mountains where he loved to camp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Horizon Hospice of Silver City, NM or to a charity of your choice.
