Diane M. Padilla, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on February 10, 2026. Born on April 18, 1948, in Morenci, Arizona, Diane dedicated over 40 years of her life to her trade as a hairstylist, operating Hair Creations in Bayard, New Mexico. Her passion for her craft and her devotion to her customers made her a cherished member of the Grant County community.
Diane was a staunch supporter of her community, always giving back and uplifting those around her. Above all, she loved her family deeply and relished every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her children, Victoria Marquez and her spouse, Francis Marquez, Christopher Carrillo, and Andres Padilla along with his spouse, Anne McDonagh. Diane was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren: Christian Marquez, Alycia Marquez, Isaiah Marquez, Ryan Carrillo, Eric Carrillo, Catherine Carrillo, Liam Padilla, Maeve Padilla, and Orlaith Padilla. She is also remembered by her numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rumaldo C. Madrid; her mother, Corina Moreno; her siblings, Elizabeth Kalcevic, Mary Lou Decker, and Richard Madrid; and her loving husband, Andy Padilla.
Services to celebrate Diane's life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, beginning with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary led by Cynthia Athens at 10:00 am at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City at 11:30 am, with internment at Fort Bayard National Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Father Oliver Obele will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Christian Marquez, Alycia Marquez, Isaiah Marquez, Ryan Carrillo, Eric Carrillo, and Liam Padilla.
Diane will be forever remembered for her warm spirit, her caring nature, and her steadfast love for her family and friends.
Rest in peace, dear mother. You will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
