Doris Smith Obituary

 DORIS B. SMITH, 96, a longtime resident of Lordsburg passed away Wednesday March 14, 2018 at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, Texas.

Visitation will be Friday morning, March 23, 2018 from 9 to 10 at The First Assembly of God where funeral services will begin at 10 o’clock with former Pastor Caleb Cooper officiating.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Doris was born January 12, 1922 in Stirum, North Dakota to James and Rosella (Clancy) Beaver.  She came to Lordsburg in 1949 and shortly thereafter began working as the cafeteria manager for the Lordsburg Public Schools from which she later retired.  During this time she worked alongside her husband Andy on the family ranch, Smith Cattle Company, west of Lordsburg.  Doris was a member of the Cowbelles, the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association, and the First Assembly of God where she was always very dedicated and served in many different capacities over the years.

She is survived by her son Wayne A. Smith and his wife Melinda of Phoenix, AZ; 2 grandsons, Justin and Lance Bridges; and 6 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Smith, daughter Rita Wright, and brother Harold Beaver.

Pallbearers will be Justin and Lance Bridges, Billy Darnell, Donnie Kimble, Manuel Hernandez and Miguel Hernandez.
