Dwight Rogers Obituary

Dwight (Ike) Rogers, 77, resident of Deming, New Mexico passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.

Friends are invited to celebrate Ike’s life on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 10:30 in the morning at the First United Methodist Church (1020 S. Granite St, Deming, NM 88030). Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at two o'clock in the afternoon at West Assembly of God Church in Fowler, CO. Pastor Darryl Johnson will officiate.

Ike was born September 18, 1944 to Philip Wade Rogers and Golda Merle (Mansfield) Rogers in Eagle, Colorado. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and The Shriners in Denver, Colorado. He loved the mountains of Colorado as well as the sandy beaches of a remote island. He was an avid golfer and a zealous fisherman. To know him was just plain fun. He was so kind, yet witty; so likeable, yet a bit onery. He instilled laughter and kidding to everyone. He made lasting friends everywhere he went. The memories we made were countless. Due to a heart attack in 1996, he took a medical retirement from Rockwell Automation, where he worked for 32+ years in engineering and sales. He moved to Mesquite, Nevada and lived on the golf course for 5 years. During that time, he was the recipient of a donated heart and was transplanted in April of 2002. He became an advocate of organ and tissue donation. From Mesquite, he became a full-time RV’er for 2 years and then moved to Deming in 2005. No matter where he went, his belief in God was obvious. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and served on many committees, various Bible Studies and Sunday School. It is hard to put into words what his family meant to him. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply and always encouraged them in their faith and life choices.

He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Wade Rogers; his mother, Goldie (Mansfield) Sharon; his step father, Wheeler Sharon and his daughter, Stephanie Rogers

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Kim (Bill) Emmerich, Gary Parker (Carol Cortez), Allen Jay Crist & Wendy Rae Crist (Fabian Gabourel); his grandchildren, Aspen Crist and Cooper Crist; his brothers and sisters, Robin (Bonnie) Rogers, Patty (John) Black, Dick (Loretta) Sharon, Netta (David) Cummings, Amy (Jim) Wingard, Bill (Barbra) Sharon and Kay Lynn (Larry) Reed; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would consider a tribute donation to either DCI Donor Services of NM, 1609 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102 or Transforming Luna County In The Name Of Jesus Christ, P.O. Boz 2187 Deming, NM 88031.
