Eduardo M Alvarez

Eduardo M. Alvarez, 88, of Hurley passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Buena Vista Care Center in Albuquerque surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the evening at Infant Jesus Shrine in Hurley followed by The Prayer Vigil and Rosary at 6:00 p.m. in the evening.  The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. in the morning at Infant Jesus Shrine.  The concluding service and burial will follow at the Hurley Cemetery where he will be laid to rest by his loving wife.  Officiating is Father Casmir Anozie.  Serving as pallbearers are, James Telles, Daniel Lane, Eduardo Alvarez, Michael Alvarez, Lawrence Alvarez, Andrew Alvarez, Joseph Lane and Alex Alvarez.  Honorary pallbearer is Jonathan Lane.

Eduardo was born on September 21, 1935 to Eduardo Alvarez and Manuela Munoz Alvarez in El Paso, Texas.  He worked at Chino Mines for 42 years.  Eduardo was a member of the Hurley Infant Jesus Catholic Church where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.  He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family.  Eduardo enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and back packing down the Gila River.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Eduardo is survived by his four sons, Edward Alvarez (Martha) of Silver City, Lawrence Alvarez (Martha) of Las Cruces, David Alvarez of Albuquerque, Louis Alvarez (Lisa) of Hurley; two daughters, Elizabeth Telles (C. Steve) and Katherine Couzin (Pete) of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife Estella; parents, Eduardo and Manuela Alvarez; sister, Maria de Jesus Cox and brother, Jose Alvarez.
