ELVIRA MORALES VALDIVIEZO, 85, a lifelong resident of Lordsburg passed away Friday June 12, 2020 at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 8, 2020 at 9 o’clock in the morning at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where a rosary will begin at 10 o’clock to be led by Alice Ramirez. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 o’clock with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.
Elvira was born February 28, 1935 in Central, New Mexico to Alcario L. and Maria Tavizon Morales. She married Antonio C. Valdiviezo in 1955 and they have made their home in Lordsburg where they raised their family. Elvira was a homemaker who always enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Elvira is survived by her husband Antonio C. Valdiviezo of Lordsburg; son Rudy Mesa (Debbie) of Ramona, CA; daughters, Wanda Homey (Andy) of Litchfield, AZ, Yoli Reyes and Toni Valdiviezo of Tucson, AZ, and Yvonne Young of Lordsburg; sisters, Sally Jimenez (Jerry) of Silver City and Lorraine Morales of Tucson, AZ; 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 grandchildren, Davy and Daviree.
Pallbearers will be Ricardo Huerta, Zak Varela, Noah Gonzalez, Albert Anzaldua, R.J. Varela, Roger Varela, Raul Garcia, Jacob Reyes. Honorary bearers are great grandsons Jude Young, Adrian Varela, Liam Barron and Ricky Huerta.
Covid-19 restrictions will be enforced with everyone required to wear a mask and only 50 people at a time will be allowed in the church.
