Morelos, Ernestina Jimenez, 93, originally from Lordsburg went to be with the Lord our Savior on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Genesis Health Care in Silver City.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at nine-thirty in the morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lordsburg. The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at ten-thirty in the morning at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lordsburg followed by the Funeral Mass at eleven o’clock. Concluding services and burial will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg. Officiating will be Father Bartholomew Ezenwelem. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Talavera, James Verdugo, Joseph Verdugo, Adam Contreras, Paul Diaz, David Diaz. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Contreras Jr., Juanito Verdugo and Jacob Verdugo.
Ernestina was born on October 23, 1926 in Bisbee, Arizona to Jesus C. Jimenez and Julia Vasquez Jimenez. Ernestina “Ernie” loved to read the bible, was a great cook and eating healthy meals. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Ernestina is survived by one daughter, Candie Morelos from Tucson, Arizona; two granddaughters, Sonia Contreras and Rosary Talavera; three grandsons, Raymond Contreras Jr., Adam Contreras (Yvonne), Matthew Contreras (Sofia); two very special nieces who were always there for her, Julie Verdugo and Margaret Kesler; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerardo Jimenez (Sally); one sister, Delfina Diaz; other special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Morelos; one son, Gregory Morelos; daughter, Mary Talavera; three sisters, Monica Figueroa, Paula Mirabel and Barbara Levario; two brothers, Joe V. Jimenez Sr. and Cleofas V. Jimenez; three nieces, Monica Diaz, Debbie Ibay and Elena Figueroa.
