Esperanza Silva

Esperanza “Hope” Baca Silva, 97, entered enteral rest on Friday, July 25, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Esperanza was born September 19, 1927 in Silver City to Julio Baca and Josefa Arroyos Baca.  She married Julio Silva on September 17, 1948 in Silver City and was a homemaker all her life.

Esperanza loved all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally.  She enjoyed cooking and baking with all her grandchildren. Her grandchildren loved her keen sense of humor and could talk for hours telling stories of how much grandma made them laugh.  Esperanza has 17 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Esperanza is survived by her daughter, Martha Triviso, four sons, Frank Silva and wife Vangie, Jimmy Silva and wife Carmen, Julio Silva Jr and wife, Diana of Silver City, Edward Silva and wife Paula of Albuquerque.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Julio A. Silva; four sisters, Nellie Leyba, Maria Chavez, Francesca Orosco and Josie Madrid; four brothers, Tomas Baca, Julian Baca, Ben Baca and Albert Baca.

The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will take place on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at eight forty-five in the morning led by Deacon Bill Holguin at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at nine-thirty in the morning.  The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Julio.  Officiating will be Father Oliver Obele.  Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Jackie Triviso, Jimmy Silva Jr., Jacob Silva, Julio Silva III, Matthew Silva and Julian Silva. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of her grandchildren.
